Nairobi National Park

Known as “The World’s Wildlife Capital,” the Nairobi National Park is just a short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district. With wide open grass plains and a magnificent backdrop of city scrapers, the scattered acacia bush play host to a wonderful variety of wildlife, including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes and giraffes. In addition, this popular attraction features diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can also enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and several walking trails for hikers.

Karen Blixen Museum

Karen Blixen Museum

Karen Blixen Museum was once the centrepiece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish author Karen and her Swedish husband Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. Located ten kilometres from the city centre, the museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya. Its farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie “Out of Africa,” an Oscar-winning film based on Karen’s autobiography by the same title.

The Giraffe Centre

The Giraffe Centre

The Giraffe Centre is a nonprofit organization whose main objective is to provide conservation education for school children and the youth of Kenya. All of the education programmes are offered to them free of charge. The Giraffe Centre derives 90% of its funds from the entrance fee collected and from the sales in the gift shop and teahouse. Therefore, by visiting and/or making purchase from the shop and teahouse, you contribute towards conservation education for Kenyan children. While you are here, take time to visit and enjoy the nature trail.
